Several times each year, civil war reenactors participate in events open to the public showing what life was like for soldiers stationed at the fort over a century before. Here, reenactors parade in formation on the parade ground inside the fort walls. An entrance to one of the many sally ports located in the fort's walls is visible just beyond the soldiers, underneath the flagpole. While the people shown here this day are flesh and blood beings, many stories are told of encounters with ghostly soldiers who continue to man the fort to this day.
