This view from atop the fort's outer walls gives a good indication of the scale of the fort grounds, with the huge main barracks building visible in the background. The curved tracks visible on the ground were aiming rails for cannon, which enabled the fort's weapons a wide field of fire. Directly underneath this position is one of the many sally ports located in the walls, which contained still more firing ports for cannon and muskets.
